so just picked up the pot..
everything worked great..
i gotta hold it like this every time when i am using it~
http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/4941/dsc03842s.th.jpg (http://img51.imageshack.us/i/dsc03842s.jpg/)
this is the board i am using it on.. Gigabyte GA-EX58-Extreme
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3536/dsc03848a.th.jpg (http://img15.imageshack.us/i/dsc03848a.jpg/)
and the chip is i7 920 SLBEJ // ### 3913B007
http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/3405/dsc03849z.th.jpg (http://img245.imageshack.us/i/dsc03849z.jpg/)
with DICE
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/9468/dsc03852b.th.jpg (http://img266.imageshack.us/i/dsc03852b.jpg/) http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4271/dsc03858y.th.jpg (http://img708.imageshack.us/i/dsc03858y.jpg/) http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4271/dsc03858y.th.jpg (http://img708.imageshack.us/i/dsc03858y.jpg/)http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/9924/dsc03853f.th.jpg (http://img819.imageshack.us/i/dsc03853f.jpg/)
everything worked great!
here are some numbers =)
this is with the i7 setup
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/980/dsc03859j.th.jpg (http://img153.imageshack.us/i/dsc03859j.jpg/)
and this is with my Pentium 4 3.0 Northwood chip
this is just with the "pot" with out any DICE in it at all..
well.. i did put some DICE in it, and then took it out. so when it's still cold i sat that on it
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/8573/dsc03846x.th.jpg (http://img85.imageshack.us/i/dsc03846x.jpg/)
but after i am done with it there is what i found out..
http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/1393/dsc03856f.th.jpg (http://img571.imageshack.us/i/dsc03856f.jpg/) http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/5778/dsc03862j.th.jpg (http://img718.imageshack.us/i/dsc03862j.jpg/)
you see how the bottom on the pot is tilted.. part of it is on the solid state capacitors and it's really not letting me having the max cooling on the chip..
http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/3405/dsc03849z.th.jpg (http://img245.imageshack.us/i/dsc03849z.jpg/)
the white thermal compound .. that is the only thing that's helping with the cooling everytime i have to put stupid amount on it just so it'll be "touching"
and i been trying use all the idea i got and tools i have but nothing seems to be working AT ALL!
here is what i have tried so fair..
sanding it down so it'll have a level difference of about 1/16th of a inch but the base it self is only 1/8th of a inch so that didn't work
then...
uncaped a AMD chip and take the IHS put a lot of thermal compound in between the "pot" and the IHS tried to attach it on there.. and then put it on there yeah it kinda worked but still not great.. it was kinda working but i don't know what i was doing wrong
then i came up with an idea..
what if i just replace the thermal compound between the IHS and the pot with solder and then solder the side is that gonna work well?
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/5778/dsc03862j.th.jpg (http://img718.imageshack.us/i/dsc03862j.jpg/)
you see how it's not in the center...
it's not cooling for shit!
and from what i have seen the height of the IHS from an AMD chip is the perfect size and height for any chip i'll be using.. so any ideas guys..... :Dizzy:
