Going to get a new SSD, was looking at this,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226151&cm_re=Mushkin_60gb-_-20-226-151-_-Product
Im fairly certain its the same as the Vertex 2, can anyone confirm that? Any others I should look at before pulling the trigger?

Can't speak to that Drive but the Vetex 2 I just got is sick .....
HAve not benched it but for an OS .... it is the end all IMO ....
Eveything is instant and boots up alm,ost twice as fast as my Intel 80GB
Got the 60GB flavor for $ 149.99 at Tiger

thats the new series...sandforce1200 285/275
I gotta say, that if I could ever be called a "fanboy" for any company, it would be Mushkin. Get it, you won't be sorry.

Went with that since its the same as the vertex2/mushkin calisto and is cheaper.

Well I'm in on two of the Mushkin's for this dreaded forever HTPC build of mine. Should have been built two weeks ago but several RMA's and upgrades and it should be complete this weekend!

Oh yeah they are quick on the installs. My C300 wasn't quite that fast on Windows 7 install but it was still damn fast. Of course I am only running with one. Interested in seeing how these Mushkin's stack up. I know after running with my C300 in my rig I would never go back to using HDD's. I tried. I have some 32MB cache HDD's in this HTPC and they just weren't cutting it.

LOL ........... sick bro
Once you have tasted the speed of these little gems ....
Mechanical drives just seem flat out uncivilized ..........
The only down side to them for benching they load the dam scenes so fast it does not give my SS time to recover temps inbetween ..............
had to move them on to the storage drives .......

lol, I never thought of that.... how fast does it load in between? How does that affect those that clock up/down in between w/ evbot or ROGconnect?
Good to know... Thanks!

They really should have made these SATA3. The 286Mb/s SATA2 limit doesnt let these show their true potential at all. Just this single drive does better with AS SSD then the two STTs I had in RAID0.

Sata 3 is kinda a joke right now. Well it was for me at least and others out there like me. I have a new MSI Sata 3 mobo here I'm going to throw in my rig this weekend to see if I can't get Sata 3 to work on it. If that doens't fix the problem then I know for sure it's my C300. Sata 2 works fine on it though so I don't see how it could be it but you never know. The Sata 3 Marvell drivers are a joke for everybody though.
Can't wait to see what RAID 0 is like with these new Mushkins! :D Oh lady is going to end up with a HTPC that is faster than my rig!!!!

P55 or X58? P55 cant do SATA3/USB3 when two vid cards are used since they share the bandwith with the PCIe lanes.

X58 with only single GPU.

I have had TRIM enabled since Ive had the drive, yet performance dropped a TON.

Running storage benchmarks on it WILL cause that happen.
Best bet is to image your OS (do not image bit for bit)
Do a secure erase and then image your OS back to it.. performance should be good to go after that.
The only difference I have seen in specs between the various SF1200 drives is in the 4K some have improved firmware for 40K or even 50K IOPS standard I beleive was down around 15-20K

I did one when I got it, and just did one now to check up on it, and its running like shit. Any thing that would cause that to happen? I dont want to keep having to go through this every couple months.

I would try just doing it once, and for testing used ATTO at 1x100MB not default 5x1000
Just a QnD test to ensure performance is there.
Disable indexing, system restore, under write debugging informatino uncheck overwrite any existing file.
Static Pagefile. And it does not hurt to keep your trash can empty either.
There is a list for SSDtweaks around somewhere. Some say it is not necessary, I see no harm in controlling how often the OS needs to write to the SSD.

Ive already done all of those. I have my pagefile set to my WD640, superfetch/prefetch, and inexing disabled, write caching enabled.
