Thinking of picking 2 of them up :)
$149 and 64GB 6GB/S ftw?

I paid more for my 30gb vertex vanilla :ohcrap:

Thoughts? Will eventually get 3 or 4 for pcmark05 and a raid card but are these a decent investment?

Splig if you give me a bit I'll find where some guys are saying they crippled the 4k reads or writes on the 64GB version. I think that would hurt on PCmark. Vertex 2's might be a better buy, but idk the price of those.

$180 for the ocz's bit more than I wanted to spend.

I have the 256gb version and love it. Hated what I paid for it and really hate the Marvell driver support and controller. Having to run it on Sata 2 due to bullshit Marvell controller.

How big of a difference do you see vs the raptors you used to have?

Only Raptors I had were the Sata 1.5 versions and there was a huge difference.

Its $150 AMIR on the egg... last I looked. My review of that very HDD should be up tonight...

34.3K PCmark05 HDD test stock core i7 system, compared to 2z150GB velociraptors 128K stripe getting 9.3K

285/STR 275/STW, no cache, everything read/writes right from the controller.

Uses the SF-1200 controller, so you might look at over SF-1200 SSDs if price is really an issue. Oh 3y warranty and 2million hour MTBF on the V2 60GB

What are the R/W speeds on them. Are they MLC or SLC?

EDIT: nm i just saw the spec on these. They have insane speed. Esp w/ 6gbs if you have the hw to run with them. The 256gb ones are stupid fast. I can only imagine what they'd do with a LSI megaraid card. If your going to invest in these i say go for a 256 if you can afford it. Then buy another in a few months and RAID them. I 'm seriously thinkin about these now.

+1 LSI Megaraid ftw

I looked all over the overclockaholics and couldn't find your review. You are posting it here, right? ;)

so you guys are saying that vertex 2 is better even though c300 is sata 6

Specs
c300 64gb $144
# Sequential Access - Read: 355MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s) 265MB/sec (SATA 3Gb/s)
# Sequential Access - Write: 70MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s) 70MB/sec (SATA 3Gb/s)

vertex2 60gb $167
# Sequential Access - Read: up to 285MB/s
# Sequential Access - Write: up to 275MB/s

Are we concerned about the write time?

DrNip

Edit: I stand corrected. I was thinking of the write speeds. They go done in speed the lower GB version you get. All are 355 MB/s read.

Hondacity

i looked at c300 64gb @ crucial it says 355mb/s read time

Splave

is pcmark05 more read biased like pcmarkvantage?

Hondacity

jor said intel drives score high coz of iops....

intel drives have low write speeds but have 50k iops? i forget how much but ...lets ask jor :D

Splave

if its all IOPS that does not bode well for the c300

i'll wait for jor to butt in

here's pdf from crucial and intel

http://download.intel.com/design/flash/nand/mainstream/322296.pdf

i'll look for pcmark05 formula for the mean time

Yes [[[[4K IOPs reads and writes]]]] that's what you have to look for on a PCM5 & PCMark Vantage drive!

here is the drive I just grabbed

hope it is decent for PCM05 ...
