View Full Version : Week o frustration

Patch

The last few days have been full of a lot of completely fruitless labor.

1) Dead GTX 275. POS reference card can't handle any voltage at all. Supplemental caps didn't help. Got suckered into buying one of these before realizing that only the Lightning models could overclock.

2) REX + E8600. Whole bunch of fail with CB -120. Don't even care if it's the CPU or the board, I'm tired of trying to make something good happen with Wolfdale.

3) New i5 670 from RMA. Best CB I've had so far with these at -150. But CBB of -50 is a PITA and a max OC of 6.25 ain't anywhere near worth the time and effort of fighting for decent RAM speeds on this platform. I'm so annoyed with P55 that I'm tempted to just sell the 655K I ordered a few days ago - unopened.

The one beam of sunshine is that these projects used hardly any LN2 at all. Benched all week with about 25L. That + another 10L would get me through a single night benching a 980x + 1 fermi.

Next up is to slap the resurrected 980x A0 on the R3E. If it runs I might make something happen with all the 5870's I have sitting around...

Hopefully its just a temporary phase bro. I been going thru the same damn thing recently. I remember when I could plug it in and clock it up like cotton candy. Bad juju is hard to shake.

Step #1- Block Chuchnit from msn/att/home phone
Step #2- Ignore all negativity
Step #3- Have a meeting with your hardware, speak nicely, give pep talk
Step #4- Talk to technician at Airgas and request he stop filling from the fail sauce tank
Step #5- Take 1 week vacation and troll forums
Step #6- Wear Superman cape around the house for a few days, build confidence
Step #7- Return to clocking like you never left

EPIC! I'll follow these steps in troublesome times! ;)

Sorry bout all the disappointments P...I like Kal's list=solid, with one addition. I cloak before pouring so my hardware/rack/ "Treacherous Wretch" doesn't know who is violating it....works most of the time.

I'm there with ya bro. After a few good sessions with my R3E and my 980x everything went to hell. R3 is dead and being RMA'd and i went back to the Classy just because and it seems it's dead too. It hangs on post code f7 then changes to c3 and hangs there. I have a 480 here i havn't teseted and another coming on monday and now i have no motherbard to run them. i've got about 120L of juice sitting on my porch just evaporating away now. That new Harley is looking really good.

This sport is a pitta sometimes. What I regret the most is the time lost with dead hardware.

Keep strong Patch you did move a lot of boints for the team before the problems, so hang in there.

Duke: I'm selling my Harley to buy more hardware ;)
