Thanks guys! When the new rig comes in i'll take some Pre OC and Post OC shots of benching and CPUz. I can't wait to OC both computers to their peaks.

Welcome man. Great people here. Dont use me as an example ;)

AFAIK

trim that down to 4GB...

Run the HTREF as high as you can while dropping ht link and mem dividers

bring all that back to reason
and run the cpu multi up to 18+ and bring the bus back up to fix it all

just guessing at limits of course ;)

The reason for the 8gbs of ram is because my sister bought me a kit for Christmas. Wanted to make her feel better so i just threw it in here.

So if you have a single dual channel it's more efficient than a fully loaded full dual channels? (if that makes sense to you)

If you need it then use it :)

Overloading on RAM limits your OC is all.

Since that rig is actually going to be replaced in a few days I am just using it as an Ubuntu Virtualization (I think i'm repeating myself but i'm tired and its' late) so i sold those 4gbs of ram and just going to leave it alone. It's only going to be there for my girlfriend for when she wants to play wow at my house.

I can't wait to tweak the I7 980X. First intel processor i've used since my Intel Core 2 duo on my laptop (Stupid macbook). I was going to aim for 4.4Ghz stable depending on what kind of cooling i'm going to use.

4.4ghz is a good goal, I usually aim for a goal then add 200mhz to that rofl

Good to have you here, we have alot of 980x users here so feel free to ask questions!

Oh jeeze, really? Here the part is like $1200 Canadian. I have no idea how people can even afford that.
