Remounted the stock heatsink for the NB today. Fired her up an went in the bios dropped my nb temps 5 degrees with no fan. So I shut it down added a fan fired it up an hangs at F3. WTF clear cmos, still same hang.
Took battery out waited fired up F3 again. So I pulled all the eraser off an swapped out to the 920. It fires up no hang. Im like OMFG my 960 is dead chit. So I throw the 960 back in an it fired up no hang an is running fine all insulated again an ready to rock.

So any Ideas on what the F3 is about? The book has no post code for it.
Im just glad no hardware died.

Whenever I see it on normal boot ups it is checking the hdd's and stuff like that. I am thinking that it is the initialization of the general POST hardware checks.

You probably were holding your tongue to the right instead of the left when you hit the power button...

...either that, or it was just getting used to being able to breathe.... nice temp drops

Ya i was definitely worried their for a bit. Smoked board or chip was bitting my tounge.
I dont know if the NB temps are causing this Machine Check BSOD that comes an arrives periodically,
but cooler is better.

I get the bad machine check bsod when I have a bad mount on the cpu... After I get that a few times in a row on an os I get driver frags... then it's remount and reinstall all os's.

I borked a few of my os's getting the feel of the ss. Def. not the same as mounting a pot. Maybe I was torquing it down too hard.
