Need help with LGA775 Motherboard for extreme overclocking.

I'm getting my replacement Intel Core 2 Duo E8700 back tomorrow. I already have a volt modded Asus Commando, but overclocking dual cores on that board will require some hilarious fast DDR2, since you can't change ratios.

I can get Asus Rampage x48 for 225$ New. They are normally 308$ in Norway.
I doubt my core i7 DDR3 stick will do any good on it, so then I will need some new DDR3, which can be expensive.

So going with a good LGA 775 board which supports DDR2 and good overclockability would be perfect.

Since I started overclocking around 7 months ago, I was never on the 775 platform, I jumped straight to 1366. So I can't say which boards are good and not. I've only been playing with my Asus Commando and Celerons.

But I've seen Gigabyte and Asus have had a lot of good LGA775 boards.

I need a list what to look for, I want some good boards, cause 10.5 x MP will require pretty high FSB.http://www.overclock.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

*PS: Don't link me some Nvidia chipset boardhttp://www.overclock.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Best 775 board Ive ever had was the ep45c-ud3r 650fsb on stock northbrige cooler, takes ddr2 or ddr3 and loved my 2x1gb kit of hypers. This ud3lr is looking to be a good one though as well. Nice and cheap!

All stock MB voltages, put chip to 1.25vcore (no reason just though 1.1v was incredibly low lol)

Has yet to fail

One of our internetstores in norway got Demo used hardware: the site is mainly in Norwegian, but specs and names are in English.

This is what I can choose from today, I don't really want to spend a lot on a 775 board.

Anything looking good there?

I'm worried about DDR3, will my GT's run it?

Yes GT's will be awesome in it. 6-7-6 or even 6-6-6

So I can run them at rated speeds? 2000mhz @ 1.65v?

You should be able to run them at rated speeds easily.

I would not spend too much cash on this! Like I said before if you can find the giga EP45T-UD3P than go for it. Its a monster FSB board ans also clocks ram like mad. I had my GTs running at 6-6-6-18 @ 920MHZ in this thing.

Seems like I can't get EP45T-UD3p in norway:(

Thanks for clearing this up! think I'll go with the Asus Rampage Extreme x48:)

Well if you can get any of the EP45T boards (DDR3) you should be all set. P45 beats X48 anytime in FSB.

Nah, there are no internet stores that are selling EP45T boards.:(

REX is by far the best 775 board. The question you have to ask yourself is if its worth the money for the few benches it benefits.
