Status update:

With the ASUS p55 Motherboard I was able to Overclock an Intel Core i5-670 CPU from its stock 3.46GHz clock speed to 6.8GHz

at just 6.1GHz I was able to complete the Super Pi 1M Benchmark in just 6.8seconds!

Hondacity was able to clock his i5-670 CPu to an amazing 6.675GHz
completing the SuperPi 1M Benchmark in 6.328Seconds taking 6th place in the world

Finished up DIcing first chip with no positive results decided to flip chips and swap out hte backplates to do it right. Damaged the motherboard removing the backplate.

Contacted ASUS. $100-120 to fix it since it is my fault. (Which I told them) Waiting for the RMA email now.

What board was it and can we see the damage? Was it really necessary to tell them?

Crosshair III. Should ASUS (and thereby customers of ASUS) pay for something stupid I did?

Well let me put this that way! I work for a BIG company which serves the server world. Believe me there is millions of $ going in and out on RMAs every day since some of the boards are 100K or more. We are making tons of cash since most of the stuff is manufactured in Asia for a dime. You should not feel too bad about getting Asus for a dollar or two. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way with the suggestion. :ohcrap:

No, did not offend me. The CSrep told me to send the board in as an RMA too, if they "spot the physical damage, they will photograph it and send you pictures and ask for credit card information"

There is a tiny nick in the board.. so that is probably the cause. with backplate on you cant see it though.

Today I was able to clock the i5-670 to 6.228GHz and complete a 3DMark 2003 bench with the ATI 4850 1GB @ 811mhz core, 1160mhz ram

23rd place 4850 3DM03: 59443 3DMarks

Card was on stock air, I plan on moving to LN2 and Performing a Vmod of the card in hops of reaching 70K+ 3DMarks.

also the i5-670 CPU remained rather stable at 6.4GHz, only being held back by a bad os install of Vista Starter 32bit......

delta 200+cfm mounted on the dimas tech table... :D

it was loud

infrared temps showed ambient temps on the chips ....its not good enough though...and the os sucked...i'm here for support....sharing my info :)

Woo whee yeah Deltas are loud. I cant wait to get to clocking this i7 up and learn some 3d benching. (Historically this is an epic fail for me)
