Guys I'm looking foward to see how this one pans out for all teams involved. We've been busy with holiday shipping going on at work with orders coming in like there's no tomorrow. My time for now is limited and will do what I can as time permits. Good thing though is at least I'm making some hrs at work instead of being limited on these as it's been for sometime for alot of us. I'll take "em and be glad to have them. Once the busy part of the season is over, I should have a little more time for such things.

I got a new tiny board with HD 4200 on it.
I only bought it because of the PC3-14400 it says it supports.
I'm expecting the memory in today's mail.
The board was assembled and booted last night using PC3-12800.

Temps are supposed to go back up on sunday, but if I dont leak test for 24 hours... I might be able to pull some near freezing air through my rad tomorrow night. New single rail PSU should help out a treat as well :)

Witch's response was nothing but cordial and friendly and did not deserve that kind of response. I am glad he is on our team, his brotherly nature and his overclocking work ethic is an asset which we at NBOC value greatly.

The more I've looked at things at the bot, the more it looks like a glitch in the data base.

Maybe that's it.

Then again, don't forget there are other teams looking to score points too.

Running the bleeding edge on my CPU and GPU, and still not getting anywhere. Will do some 06/Vantage runs tomorrow, but so far have not managed to beat my best AM3/3d01 scores despite higher clocks across the board. Might have to reload my "bench OS" see if I can make up the couple thousand points difference. (Either that or I just tweaked something wrong)

Was having trouble hitting some clocks on my 4890. So I removed the heatsinks tried some stuff out and threw the stocker back on, after doing a little thermal management.

I screwed up I guess, started hitting 100C on the VRMs. Tried re-seating the heatsink again to no avail :(

got upset, thought about selling the last worthwhile thing I have to get a 3rd party cooler. Talked to Kal... did one more re-seating of the heatsink... AND now am running higher AND cooler than before!!!

Still not going to be boint worthy... (no LN2 on an e8600) but placing in the top 100 is good enough for me :)

Finally got the EVGA 3x SLI, and a new CPU. Sucks though, cause I think my CPU is a dud. My last one was a 3849 batch that could Linx 4.4 with less then 1.4v. This one, at 4Ghz using 1.35 so far, working to lower it though. Runs cooler, even with higher voltage though.

Both ways cost a shitload of money. Competitive overclocking costs money, OFTEN!

A hundred $20 cpu's is still $2,000 bucks so that piss poor thing argument doesn't fly with me. If you're competing with the global hot-rodders with obvious money to burn, you're gonna spend money in either direction direction you go.....

And cooling????? Just about everyone finds a way to get there shit cooler than the next guy. Some guys are willing to go extreme extreme while others modify a/c units or drown their radiators in ice baths. I've done it all for the glory of competing with my dear brother spfoam1 and others, all the while getting hosed by Cascade, Single Stage and Liquid Nitrogen freeks. Only recently have I delved into the waters of LN2/Dice. You simply can't overclock with the Holy Spirit and be competitive, no matter how old/new your shit is.

For the Classic Platforms type of overclockers, I've never been pissed off at your hardware achievements or your hoard of hardware points. But I also don't agree that they should be limitless on the team level either. I can't be bothered nor do I have an interest to go back in the delorian and pick up a hundred punch card processors from the original NORAD complex. I'm all for fostering the fever and I'm an advocate for it on all levels. My thing was, individually the hwbot Overclocker's Leaugue has people's hardware scores capped off at 300 points. SO for continuity's sake I feel the Team League's should have followed suit, less we all be forced to compete as Hardware Grinder's. Option "C" which is what I woulda preferred, is recognizing the grinder's by having a Grinder's League where all the hot shot hardware grinder's were recognized and ranked based on hardware boints. Same with the Team's, you're team can choose to compete as Globe Trotters or Tech-Junkie's.
You cannot expect Jackfruit Junior to walk into Jackfruit Senior's office, pull down his pants and have more fuzz than Senior does. Nor can you expect Senior to have a higher sperm count. Get it?

So are there differing opinions? Hell yah. Should we let it ruin our pasion for whatever category we place ourselves into? Hell no. I have a tremendous amount of respect for those hardware nuts and their vast collection of hardware and hardware knowledge. I just don't have any interest to follow that path.

We won't know what the final version of Rev. 3 Hwbot will bring until the damn server is updated with fresh data. And even then who the hell knows what the eruo's will do. It's their machines, their time, their money, their business. I see alot of pissed off Americano's but not one damned coder around willing to put together the American BOT!

I'll end by saying, Hwbot is just another venue that makes it convenient to compete with others on a larger convenient scale. We all started on forum message boards competing with eachother and that will NEVER end. So if you don't like the bot and you wanna compare sizes, the forum's are always there. I'm not worried about whether anything is changed so much as the appearance of it being biased against older hardware = A huge drop in points. We never worried about Globals as you guys know already and simply worked our tails off to get what we have/had and to see it all go "Poof" hurts and you gotta say ouch at some point.

I'm not too worried about it all though and waiting to see what happens next. I did get some global points out of the deal but lost almost half of my total points regardless. That's the thing we're griping about the most.

Run it down and kill it is the way I go about benching no matter what I'm running. Who would have thought a lowly Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 MB could push a Socket A past 2.8GHz? I did it by being persistent and continuing the chase, proving it could be done - Best of all, the board has no mods applied. Competed with other big-boards with similar CPU's and did well inspite of the handicap I have when using it.

Interesting and well written opinion. I cannot disagree with some of it, some I can, but that's what makes us individuals, and there's nothing wrong with that. HWBot can do what ever they want to their site, because it is THEIR site. If one doesn't like it, don't use it. As for me, I will continue to use it simply because I like to bench, and right now their site is pretty much the only stage for anybody to do it on. I'll just have to alter my style a bit and bench some newer stuff. I don't have a problem with that, it'll just take me a little longer to amass a newer collection. As for an American bench site, this is already being discussed at CP. There are one or two of us with enough coding skills to whip up a site. It may take a while, but it's gonna happen I think. It's a time consuming process starting from scratch. CP actually offered to buy the base code from HWBot and was refused. So that pretty much means a scratch start. We'll see how it transpires. Meanwhile, I've made alot of friends through HWBot and forums like this one and NBOC, and have no plans on abandoning that, no matter what happens. I'd also like to thank you Supe's, for allowing us the access to your site and basically letting us spout our opinion's. That's very gracious of you. One endeavor and pursuit we should never lose sight of is the retention of the quality relationships we develop on and off the field. Lasting relationships are what matters most to me personally. Jackfruits come and go, friends run it till the lights go out.

Kal hit it on the head though IMO. I am just glad to be part of such a great community of people around here and on a few other forums.

I have said this before but it bares repeating in these times of change in the game we all so much like playing and I think this does some it up

Sometimes we lose sight of what is important but we all must remeber it is not as important the results of the game as much as the thrill of just playing

Time to move on and one day I am sure it will change again but until then we will persevere and have fun doing it.

Actually the only thing I miss about the i7 setup, was there is not way for me to compete in 3d without one. Even with one, it was tough to do. 2D global boints were pretty much the same. I can still do HW boints though.

I am glad that I never shipped off this AMD setup, since it is still kicking it and more than enough for gaming :) (Dragon age Origins I have yet to see CPU or GPU top 70% load when I monitor it on the second screen, which really surprised me)

Yea we are fortunate to have him. We don't have a very large team.

We have some great benchers on the team but some teams just have over whelming numbers and XS is a long way off .....

But small teams like OCA, CP and NBOC have found a place in the landscape and are doing well for their respective size.

And the key I thin we are all haveing a blast ...... The thrill of the competition is just warming up

I see all the differing points of view and acknowledge the consessions being offered by NBOC in "blood" by foregoing an NBOC exclusive naming schema. The focus here is overwhelmingly bot points and standings or "Numbers". While thats all fine and dandy, cool and delicious, downright awesome, I have this nagging responsibilty to safeguard the longterm health and interests of this community.

I may be touchy/feely with Overclockaholics and I'm not alone by a longshot, but its for good reason. It has defined this community as a whole. Like it or not, you boys have been part of this Community for a long time now.

Community is much more than numbers, its relationships, friendships, loyalty, longevity. We are not machines, not bots, we are much more than numbers. Its not "All Bot Business" here. There's a balanced relationship between common overclocking interest in hwbot competition, friendly competition and general pc performance enthusiasm. That is how our team is shaped.

The decision to enter into this merger will be made with much deliberation.

Name doesnt really matter much to me. Something not related to any of us so its fair for everyone. Think of it as S.H.E.I.L.D. from the Avengers. Everyone knows the members, and each have their own story. But all together they share a name. At the bot we would share a name, and each keep our own names at the forums. Maybe even talk with the owners of hwbot and see if they can open up the site to be more merger friendly. Have multiple site links and whatnot per team (if they dont already). Or even allow small "clan tag" like space after the name of the members to put CP, OCA, or NBOC.

As of now, CP will not be joining the Alliance. Needed a unanimous vote, and didn't get one. Best I can tell you. We at CP wish the Alliance the best of luck in their quest, and that this choice has no ill effects on the personal relationships between members of all 3 teams........unless you let it.
