K running 4.2 at 1.3625 vcore and my cpu is idle at 44 and about 52-58 on load depending on what game im playing. Right now i have cheap 5 dollar fans 78 cfm on a gtx extreme 240 rad with cpx pro pump and little over 500 ml of fluid on this loop. Cpu block is a koolance 330 do i need to upgrad block??? Ambient room temp 26.7c. I will soon put sythe gentle typhoons 1850 rpms on the rad when i get the cash! Was wonder if i need to upgrade the block too?

yea but is under 60s on water good??? i figured with my current set up i should be more like high fortys under load and low thirtys at idle being on water! If thats the case ill change my block to a updated block vs getting air temps on water!

not at all dude... you gotta realize water will help hold a temp, but its not gonna keep it super cool
mine at 1.36V vcore and 1.41V vtt under full linx load does 61 deg max by pass 25

I learned long ago buddy no matter how hard you try... water will give you more heat capacity... but still not a super low temp

Will say one thing. There is never too much rad for an i7 . Those thing run extremely hot! Those temps are golden :)

I guess my ocz freeze needed some time to set..... my PA120.3 with gtz block ran it to 25 passes LINX max core temp 59C

Some TIM's need some time to really shine. I have never used that one though. I always use AS5

yeah i love ocz freeze... very easy to work with and non capacitive/conductive

I might try that next. I still have a fairly new tube of AS5, but I've been meaning to try freeze for a while. Just haven't ran out of AS5 yet

Hey guys is my koolance 330 water block sufficient or should i get a better block or is there a better block for my i7! Even if its just a couple degrees C ill pay the extra money and time for it. I was looking towards the koolance 350 ac. Any thoughts or suggestion for a better block mentioned above!

The 350 is a very good block. But to me the heatkiller is the ultimate water block.

+1 on the heatkiller.... i have seen best results from it.... then again you can easily over tighten it too
believe me i have seen what it can do.
be smart with it and it is the BEST i ave seen so far

Does the heatkiller come with a backplate or you gotta order that seperately?

I just looked up the heatkiller and am considering buying it! No it doesnt require a bracket. Im currently using the universal bracket by koolance where the posts bend at the bottom ill prolly just mount the block on that current set up shouldnt make a difference plus it has a mounting bracket underneth.
Also i thought about putting the cpu on the tri rad loop but i figured the gtx 240 extreme by hardware labs would have more heat disapation then that cheap 50 dollar stealth ice gt rad. Any thoughts???

seperately.
You can find both block and backplate here. Just saw the nickel plated edition, WOW!!!

If you can a black ice extreme rad with high static pressure fans is a great combo!!

I highly reccommend some Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM fans. They flow 133cfm. You can hook those up to a fan controller and quite them down when not in need of the extra cooling. Crank them up and your rad will turn into a flying rad :):laughing:
speaking of flying rad, some of those super high flow delta fans will really make your damn rad fly and hover lol

actually i do have some of those 3krpm fans but they work best at 2k rpm
so you can actually get the Ultra kaze 2krpm ones and they are a good balance of noise and massive amounts of airflow

really? Weird, but good observation. They are also thicker so it serves more as a shroud also. I really need to get some of those fans when i kick it again with my water cooling.

I got a couple 3k's running and they are very loud at full throttle, using the older model kaze fan controller with the 3k's caused the fan controller grief (or it coulda been the sub-zero air being pumped thru the case) but yah, u get my drift on the noise level.

we sure do and thanks.
Yeah few people have told me they are pretty loud. but if you get a fan controller than can handle them, they should do good. Anyways when you are benching, who cares about noise :) :)

yes the much thicker 38mm fans allow higher pressure

Actually i do have really cheap fans and ive been waiting for newegg to get the scythe gentle typhoons at 1850rpms on thing is they are 17.99 cheapest place and im going to need 6 of them ouch!!!!!
So would my tri rad even tho its the black ice gt stealth have more heat disapation then the 240 gtx extreme if so ill just swap the lines and put the cpu on the tri and the video on the dual!

the dul would probably rock it.... and then keep the heavy heat dump from the cards on trh triple....
13 bucks?
you can get teh kaze's for like 10 bucks from the ehh last time i checked, if you shop around theres alot of good deals...
my buddy Marcam923 turned me on to http://www.svc.com they have excellent deals on stuff like fans

I dont know if u were saying to keep the cpu on the dual but i went ahead and switched them out so the cpu is on the triple black ice stealth gt and put the video on the dual gtx extreme 240! So far outstanding i lost about 5C on cpu u temps and video stayed the same. I noticed the flow on the cpu resivoir is slower and before it was much faster im begining to wonder if i was getting some heat dump on the cpu loop?

i heard that cfm does matter but also the amount of pressure a fan produces to actually go through the rad is different then a fan just moving air vs the fan moving air through a rad and these fans are top notch for the pressure and there only 28 dBA.

People saying CFM does not matter is misleading.
The reason they say that is, it can move XX CFM at 0 pressure. Once you strap it to a case or a heatsink or something, you are adding pressure and slowing down the fan.
Fin shape and quantity, as well as fan casing thickness all help increase the amount of pressure the fan produces as well as the motor.
(If you have never done it, take a nice 120x38mm high CFM/Pressure fan and lay it blowing down on your desk, then plug it in and play some air hockey :))

Thats my point exactly so is that y i should stick with those typhoons for the best pressure. I was reading that those are the best for the pressure and the low dba!

Well I do not know about that. I am sure someone around here can give you recommendations on the best fans to get. I was just trying to explain the details.
As far as the typhoons, I just googled them and they are $3 fans, so I doubt the motor has enough grunt be a high pressure fan.

At $3 a fan, the worst you could do is find out they suck. If you've done the research and are happy with the outcome, thats all that matterz. Just be sure to share you're final results once their hooked up.
Fan reviews abound, just a matter of searching.
