Guy on OCF in the classifieds (if you have access) has a X3440 ES Xeon chip for sale 160 shipped in hte USA. If someone is looking to try out the budget platform, the price certainly makes it feasible :)

(I have no clue how well these chips OC, figured since a lot of you X58 guys are running Xeons, there must be a reason:) )

(You must have 100 posts and a ISP email to access the classifieds. I can help a fellow gladiator out if necessary though)

I believe the Xchips don't run on the x-58 desktop boards, only the Wchips. X3570 vs W3570.

They do assuming the bios supports it, IIRC EVGA, ASUS, and Gigabyte do on their X58 boards. No one really does though because they're more expensive that their Wxxxx counterparts

No this chip will not work on any X58 motherboard.

It is an LGA 1156 P55 CPU :)

And its dropped to 150 shipped now :o damn...
