Anybody know how Win 7 is doing with Vantage vs Vista? :scared:

I haven't done a comparison but I have read others that say it is better. I'll bust out the Vista hdd and do some runs supes. Be back with them in a bit.

Interesting stuff. Here is what I came up with. Test platform:

Intel Core i7 920 D0
EVGA Classified 759
Mushkin Ascent DDR3 2000 3x2GB
BFG 295 Single PCB
Windows Vista 64bit SP2
Windows 7 64bit RC1

Windows Vista 64bit SP2 w/o PhysX

Windows 7 64bit RC1 w/o PhysX

And the winner is, Windows 7.

Really gotta get home for more than a few hours so I can install RC and RTM, do a side by side comparison.

What I'm trying to figure out is how my 4.315ghz CPU run only scored 500 points behind my 4.923ghz run. I must of not had my cores synced in Precision on my 4.923ghz run and one of them was at factory settings while the other was overclocked.

Nice comparison Nip, I'll be re-imaging my sexa-boot for a fresh crack at it all.

I forgot to add these were both done on a 40" 1080 so that might have hurt my score a little.

Did you run custom test? If not, it should not effect your score, not that I know of anyway. Your TV is doing the upscaling not the video card.

No just straight runs.

Big gain with Win7 + CCC 9.8 + ghetto dice chiller. I'll post some pics if I can get them out of my phone.:D

Alright! #5 with only 4.34ghz clock. Man get that thing to 5ghz then make a run at it.

I was working on 4.5 but was running out of dice. I could see my temps creeping up.

Here's a couple pics of my chiller. Outer pail has 1/2" dry ice pellets and 100% Ethanol (gas line antifreeze from a local hardware store). Inner pail contains ethylene glycol, (regular auto antifreeze). I don't have a temp probe, so i'm guessing the antifreeze was somewhere around -50C for it to gel like it was. I had no insulation, so I flipped my comp on its side so condensation would drip away from the components. Risky? Probably!

High risk and CLASSIC!

Jinkies!

Old school subzero :) Insulation Shminsulation lol

dont think turning it upside down is going to help the socket much, might also effect the thermals, (probably not so much).

Get a lid on those buckets buddy :)

That set-up got me almost to 4.6 GHz, but me in my infinite wisdom, didn't get a CPU-Z validation. doh!!
I did have a cover on the buckets, but with them on, it wouldn't have been a very good picture.
As far as condensation in the socket, I don't think the cpu got cold enough. The lowest temp Real Temp showed was -8C at boot and dropped to around -1 to -2. I was more worried about drops on the vid cards.
I also had it propped on those catalogs with it nosed up to the open window. It was around 2 AM and the temp outside dropped to 7C.
